Audio Release of 'I - Proud To Be An Indian'
IndiaFM@Dec 20, 2003
The audio release of Sohail Khan's latest venture gI - Proud To Be An Indianh last night was a happening event at the Spice room in J.W.Mariott. Sohail, clad in a white t-shirt that proudly read the title of the film 'I' made an entry with his all new cast and crew.

For the first time, Sohail is not involved in a film as director. This time he hands over the directorial reins to debutante Puneet Sira and seemed quite happy about his decision.
The film deals with racial discrimination faced by the middle class Asian families in UK. Pakistani based - UK settled actor 'Imran Ali Khan' plays Sohail's Pakistani friend in the film while for the bad man who plays a menacing whitehead in the film, Sohail has roped in the 6ft 4in British actor 'Tim Lawrence'. Sohail claimed that this international casting was a conscious effort on his part to add to the authenticity of the characters in his film. His love interest in the film is played by a Pakistani based - Canada settled actress 'Heena Tasleem'.
As the press conference initiated, Sohail was very casual in his replies to the anxious media-persons, detailing everything from his experiences to the budget of the film. The theme of I, he claimed is something, which Bollywood has not witnessed as yet.

The surprise came through brother Salman Khan, who made a late entry at around 11:00 pm and released the audio of the film. Others spotted at the event included directors of Salman's forthcoming films, Puneet Issar (Garv) and Atul Agnihotri (Dil Ne Jise Apna Kaha); Arshad Warsi, Zayed Khan, Shefali Shetty, Vrajesh Hirjee and music directors of the film Daboo Malik and K.C.Loy.

The original Prem is back
ApunKaChoice.com Dec 6, 2003
With just one debacle Sooraj Barjatya has learnt his lesson. The director has roped in Salman Khan for his next film.
Barjatyafs last film Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon failed at the box-office, though it had both Hrithik Roshan and Abhishek Bachchan playing ePremf and also starred Kareena Kapoor.
After the release of the movie Hrithik had even said that Salman is the eoriginal Premf and he cannot take his place.
That seemed to be true as Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon failed to create the box-office magic previous Barjatyafs films had done.
Barjatya now seems to have realised his mistake and has reportedly told Salman that he would be doing his next film.
Barjatya and Salman have given together two huge hits, Maine Pyar Kiya and Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! and one successful film, Hum Saath Saath Hain.
Salman has quite a few films at hand, Hollywoodfs eMarigoldf, Sanjay Leela Bhansalifs Bajirao Mastani, Puneet Issarfs Garv - Pride and Honor, David Dhawanfs Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Boney Kapoorfs eNo Entryf and Revathyfs Phir Milenge.

When our team entered the sets, we found Salman Khan chasing a dog (Tommy) to win Priyanka Chopra's heart. Priyanka plays Rani, a simple girl with simple aspirations who wants to make it big as a designer. Akshay plays Sunny who loves to create misunderstandings between people (read Salman and Priyanka)

AMITABH AND SALMAN KHAN REUNITED!
radiosargam.com Sep 2003
Two actors will appear in Ravi Chopra's next film!

During a recent interview with Radio Sargam, Bollywood director Ravi Chopra admitted being pleasantly surprised with Salman Khan's professional attitude during the making of Baghbaan. Therefore its hardly surprising that Salman has been signed once again for Ravi's next film, alongside the main actor from Baghbaan, Amitabh Bachchan.
The film explores the relationship between a father and his son. It will start filming in December this year.
"Amitabh and Hema have always been popular for their professionalism but the revelation was Salman Khan. I heard so much about him, which was not very flattering. But really working with him was a pleasure. He's really a boy with heart of gold, totally straight from the heart guy. It was pleasure working with him," Ravi told Radio Sargam

 Fashion's faux pas
Mid Day Sep 15, 2003
Pandemonium reigned at designer Vikram Phadnisfs show at the Hyatt Regency on Saturday evening as over a thousand people thronged the ballroom, which had a seating capacity of 550. Actress Zeenat Aman nearly got knocked over while entering the hall as people rushed towards the door to find a good seat.
And if that was not enough, Zeenie baby had to stand for nearly twenty minutes before a chair was arranged for her in the front row ? and she was one of the chief guests.
When the show eventually kicked off, Yukta Mookhey walked on stage and announced that the sponsors (Dhoot Entertainment) were giving out awards to five professionals who had made a difference to the fashion and film industry. Great idea that was, except that someone had forgotten to keep the awards ready. So when Dilip Kumar and Saira Banoo (also special guests) were supposed to present Mickey Contractor with a bouquet for his twenty-five year stint as make-up artist, Yuktafs pleas to bring out the floral arrangement fell on deaf ears.
Not letting the opportunity slip by, actor Shekhar Suman made it a point to ridicule this faux pas when he was invited on stage to present an award to Priyanka Chopra. Needless to say, the crowd cheered him on, as also they did when Govinda was on stage later and said that he could hardly comment on fashion especially since his flamboyant style of dressing has always garnered much criticism. Ironically though, Govinda chose to show up at this event in a dapper grey suit, matching tie et al, looking rather nice.
In fact, some of the garments that were modelled after the eawards ceremonyf might well have been inspired by Govindafs filmi fashions. While we loved the western cuts and the saree innovations, a few of the bridal creations were garish and frightening as the colour schemes clashed and the embroidery left much to be desired.
However, the crowd went wild when Bollywood bad boy Salman Khan took to the ramp as the showstopper. For any star-struck voyeur, this was the place to be for not only was Salman on the ramp but in the front row were Rani Mukerji, Urmila Matondkar, Sohail Khan, Mahima Chaudhary, Sangeeta Bijlani and Mohammad Azharuddin.
And if you must know, the show was followed by a party at Zaha at The Leela, where many of the same people were seen partying the night away.

 Salman at Book Launch
Midday Aug 21, 2003
It was megawatt star power at the Sun-n-Sand hotel on Thursday, Independence Day Eve. The occasion was the launch of Bharathi S Pradhan's (Moviemag International editor) book called, `Cars, Colas and Communal Harmony', celebrating the numerous inter-faith Bollywood marriages and doffing its hat to the industry's secular colours. The evening had both style and substance.
The glitzy quota was fulfilled by the formidable star presence. Hrithik Roshan, Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Malaika Arora, Amrita Arora, Sanjay Khan, Salim Khan with his two wives, Salma and Helen sitting next to each other, Raveena Tandon, compere Rati Agnihotri, Aditi Govitrikar... the list had luster.Former super cop Julio Riberio spoke about how he was horrified to learn about the 1992-93 riots in Mumbai while he was in Romania as India's ambassador to the country. Joint Commissioner of Police Javed Ahmed, impressive in uniform, took the dais to give his message: This Independence Day let us have freedom from our bias and prejudices.
Mahesh Bhatt roared, "Anybody who has lived through the fires of religious hatred knowns what it is. I have not said everything in the book, because there is only that much truth people can handle." Model Aditi Govitrikar spoke about how she fell in love with her Muslim husband Muffazal, ironically when she was stranded in her hostel at Grant Medical College while communal riots raged outside.
Salman Khan said, "I am used to getting in trouble. I am going to do so again I think. Without me Javed saab (Javed Ahmed, he meant) would be out of work." After the audience had recovered, S K went on harking back to Charles Darwin's theory of evolution, "We all come from monkeys. Monkeys have no religion." He raised laughs at the sporting swipe he took at himself, "I learnt about God in the fifth standard. Incidentally, I had great difficult in making it to the sixth standard. I am not a graduate. I might do my graduation when I am 60 or 70..." Finally, SK left the mike with, "I was born in Indore, brought up in Bombay, Bandra Bandstand. I opened my eyes in this country, I will shut them here."
Akshay Kumar revealed that he has decided not to mouth anti-Pakistan dialogues in his projects. Saying `no' to the India vs Pakistan stand, Akshay said, it must be India with Pakistan vs terrorism. The feel-good evening closed early by 8.30 pm. Tri-coloured orange, white and green soft did the rounds, giving greater resonance to Sanjay Khan's message. "The only flag that matters is the tricolour..."

Salman To Work In Sooraj Barjatya's Next
Celebnceleb.com August 13, 2003
Salman Khan, the wild child, of Bollywood is all set to work in the next Sooraj Barjatya movie. Salman has been featured regularly in most of Barjatya's movies since he first worked with him in the huge hit Maine Pyaar Kiya.

In almost all the movies directed by Barjatya, since Maine Pyaar Kiya Salman, has played the role of Prem, mostly the principal character of the movie. Salman was noticeably missing from Barjatya's latest offering Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon, which features two characters named Prem.

Salman can be called Barjatya's lucky mascot, as all his movies featuring Salman as Prem, has been huge hits. Whereas, Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon bombed at the box-office. After, experimenting with other Prem's, Barjatya seems to have come back to his original Prem, Salman.

Salman set to launch new film
Subhash K Jha,Ridff com June 19, 2003

Salman Khan's US concerts have seen a slump in audiences, which is becoming common for Bollywood live shows worldwide.
He is the first Bollywood star to admit it.
Says he, "People who come for the concerts are extremely receptive but attendance is low because ticket prices are too high. Even at a Madonna or a Michael Jackson concert, tickets are priced around $25. For Indian concerts, ticket prices are hiked up to $150 to $200. The Asian community in the US loves our concerts. But how can they spend $100 on tickets if that is their monthly income?"
Khan, who has already toured four US cities, will now perform in San Francisco, Vancouver, Atlanta, Toronto, Chicago, Orlando and New Jersey. He will visit Europe before returning to India on July 6.

Contrary to rumours, he has not been dropped from Carol Willard's Indo-American love story Marigold. The actor held extensive discussions with the director on his US tour. He plans to shoot for Marigold in January, for six to nine weeks, though the producers prefer October.
Khan plans to start his home production Lucky -- to be directed by Vinay Sapru and Radhika Rao -- in September. Lucky,  which he says has a "beautiful story," is a love story set during the Russian civil war.
Sounding excited about his first international film, Khan says, "Marigold is not one of those crossover films. It is a proper Hollywood film. And it will get Asian cinema a lot of respect."
The star is very impressed by the working style in Hollywood. "They know exactly what they want and how to get it."

Bhumika Chawla In Bajirao Mastani
B4U June 9, 2003
Bhumika Chawla will play the role of Bajirao's wife in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani. The director watched Satish Kaushik's Tere Naam that has Bhumika paired with Salman Khan and Sanjay was pretty impressed with her performance. Bhumika also plays the lead in Boney Kapoor's Run opposite Abhishek Bachchan.

Anything For A Friend
Filmfare June, 2003
Meanwhile, Salman Khan is taking a renewed interest in his career. He's been calling up friends and expressing his keen desire to work with them. Sooraj Barjatya was one of them. Apparently Salman offered to set aside dates for him for his new project. It's believed that Sooraj assured Salman that he will star in his next venture.

Sajid Nadiadwala is also planning a two-hero project with Salman. This project is apparently the same one that Nitin Manmohan was supposed to make as Aankh Micholi. That film, written by Anees Bamee, was scheduled to be directed by him too. Once Sajid takes over the project, however, we understand, David Dhawan will direct, with the script done by Anees Bamee.

The Morning After
Filmfare June, 2003
The world wants to know what Vivek Oberoi has been up to post that hasty press conference he called to talk about Salman Khan's threatening calls to him. Well, Vivek is busy making amends. For one, he's called common friends and the dress designer and hair dresser whom he shares with Salman Khan, to say, 'Please don't misunderstand me.' Though Salman himself has declared he's not too upset with Vivek. How come the hot headed Sallu's not raging this time? Because he feels the boy was instigated by certian people and that Vivek's action was not premeditated.

Bipasha, Salman, Amisha storm New York !
Filmfare May 28, 2003
NEW YORK: Six Bollywood stars?Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Sanjay Dutt, Salman Khan, Amisha Patel and Bipasha Basu?sang and danced on Long Island here in a performance that had spectators cheering for more.
The stars gave the audience three uninterrupted hours of Bollywood in a live show called gMegastar Mania 2003h at the Nassau Coliseum on Long Island.
Around 10,000 people were present at the Memorial Day weekend show Saturday that saw the actors entertain the audience with specially choreographed song and dance numbers on a stage that was set afire with laser shows.
Each performer had his/her own way of trying to win over the crowd.
Amisha Patel, who was introduced as a Gujarati much to the delight of the large audience that related to her roots, spoke of her days as a student in Boston and said every long weekend, including the Memorial Day, was spent in New York.
gI love New York, its food, the people and shopping,h said the 26-year-old who graduated in economics from Tufts University.
There is no guessing what Salman Khan did. Yes, he took off his shirt. But Sanjay Dutt, who has an equally well-chiselled body, pipped Khan in the act, having taken the stage first.
Sunny Deol, dressed somewhat in his Gadar attire?with a bright red turban, but minus the beard?was transported to the stage in an iron carriage that rolled in through the isles separating rows of chairs.
After speaking a few sentences in English, he immediately started chatting to the audience in chaste Punjabi, as some people said they were not only his fans but also of his father?the original hunk of Bollywood, Dharmendra.
Bobby Deol came to the stage from an elevated ramp and danced to the numbers from his hit movie Humraaz, while Bipasha Basu was candid enough to admit that this was her first international show. gI am feeling very nervous,h she said.
Most stars also tried to perform the song they are better associated with today?Sanjay Dutt with Ishq Samandar, Sunny Deol with Mein Nikala Gaddi Leke, Salman Khan with Aise Pehli Baar, Amisha Patel with Kah Na Pyar Hai.
The evening was interspersed with Punjabi and Hindi songs by Meet Brothers, as also mimicry by K Sanjay.
Unlike the usual mimicry one sees of Bollywood actors like Ajit, Raj Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay chose a totally different set of stars.
He had the audience in splits, imitating the voices and mannerisms of Om Prakash, Shakti Kapoor, Govinda, Naseeruddin Shah, Nana Patekar, Paresh Rawal Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Ajay Devgan, Amol Palekar and Gulshan Grover.
Meet Brothers, who started with a medley of songs originally sung by Amitabh Bachchan, later switched to numbers from their own pop album Boonh.
The highlight of the evening was saved for the last one hour, where one after the other the stars shared the stage with each other and danced to the medleys of numerous songs?new and old.
Bobby Deol and Amisha Patel paired for Rabba Rabba of Monsoon Wedding, Salman Khan and Bipasha Basu for Dil Lagi Kudi, Salman Khan, Sanjay Dutt and Bipasha Basu for Ande Kaa Funda, Amisha Patel and Bobby Deol for Sadde Naal.
The last song of the evening, Aja Naach Le of Daler Mehndi, saw all the stars performing together amid a glittering laser show and fireworks, bringing the audience too on its feet.
The Desi fare at the three-hour event included samosas, dhoklas, jalebis and masala chai that seemed to have outsold the usual popcorn, bagels, chips and soda.
Presented by Kanu Chauhan of Rajsun Entertainment, the event was organised by Farhath Hussain, scripted and directed by Moranis and Soorma, G.S. Entertainment and Popcorn Entertainment. Vijay Taneja was its international promoter
Thank Ms. Sharaab for this pic!

IIFA awards had superb performances
Udita Jhunjhunwala Mid day May 19, 2003

Of course the show-stopper for the night was Salman Khan who enjoys huge popularity here. As he descended from the roof of the Dome on a harness, singing O, O, Jaane Jaana, the crowd was up on its feet and mobbing him. That was a moment of poor planning.
No bodyguards, no clear access to the stage and an unruly group of fans desperate to get a second with their favourite star. Not that it rattled Khan for long.
He was soon up on stage completing his act. Ironically he ended with Tadap Tadap from his film with Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (in which he co-starred Aishwarya Rai). Not many in the audience missed the weightiness of sentiment within that song.

Johannesburg hotting up for IIFA awards
Udita Jhunjhunwala Mid day May 16, 2003

Half an hour before the South African Airways flight landed in Johannesburg the in-flight crew distributed a form with eSARSf printed on the top left corner.
On further reading one noted that this was not a health enquiry or precaution.
SARS is short for South African Revenue Service. This proved a great ice-breaker for the almost planeload of delegates arriving from across India for the IIFA weekend. So far the biggest stars of IIFA are unarguably Amitabh Bachchan and Salman Khan.
If last year was Sanjay Guptafs IIFA with promotions for Kaante and the launch of Plan, this year it seems to be Salman Khan all the way. Khan arrived yesterday morning with brother Arbaaz and friend Kamal Khan.
He was seen chilling out with Abhishek Bachchan on the flight and later helping Shilpa Shetty who is ailing with a bad back with her luggage.

Salman Khan received a warm welcome at Johannesburg airport.

At the charity cricket match at the Centurion Grounds, his arrival was greeted with the loudest cheers, and it seemed enough for South African fans just to see him pose in a cricket jersey, even though he inexplicably didnft take to the field.

The female stars seem to be eclipsed and outnumbered by the male contingent.
So far only Shilpa Shetty, Diya Mirza (who is the co-host of the Samsung IIFA awards with Anil Kapoor), Jaya Bachchan, Esha Deol, Sonali Bendre and Rekha have been spotted though Rani Mukherjee and Lara Dutta are also expected.
It seems that all of the Bollywood men are here though. You just had to see the turnout for the three teams at the charity cricket match to agree.
Saif, Fardeen, Zayed, Chunky, Sharad, Sanjay, Anil, Suneil, Aftab, Dino, Shakti, David Dhawan, Venkatesh, Mahesh Manjrekar, Abhishek, Yusuf Khan, Apoorva Lakhiac
And then there were the cricketers (Harbhajan, Zaheer, Mongia, Kaif, Kambli and Bryson) who padded out the scores with their deft stroke play but had to be content being overshadowed by their more dazzling colleagues.
Member of the Samsung team (the other two teams were the Sony team and Sahara team), Saif Ali Khan said before the round robin eight overs-a-side tournament started, gThis is the first time a Pataudi is being captained by a Kapoor.h Anil Kapoor that is.

We hoped Saif and Kaif, who were on the same team, would share the pitch and not just chips. They didnft, though Kaif was the next bat in when Saif got out for 8.
If itfs cricket, can Mandira Bedi be far? Not only was cricketfs latest expert commentator the off-field interviewer at the charity match, the lady with the controversial costumes was also the host of the technical awards which were presented earlier yesterday.
For this extra innings she wore a beige and peach embroidered sari with a strappy blouse designed by Vikram Phadnis and steamrolled through the teleprompter text and the awards, the winners of which had been announced a fortnight ago. It may be recalled that Devdas bagged nine out of 14 of those.
And there seems little doubt that the film will gather a few more statuettes on Saturday night.
With all three of the lead cast absent in Johannesburg, Sanjay Leela Bhansali may as well be given a seat in the wings to save him the trips up to the stage.
With more artists expected today, and the Armaan premiere this evening, a wintry Johannesburg is hotting up. Watch this space.

Both have had female fans drool over them for years now. While one is still footloose, the other turned papa less than a year ago. Now, Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar will bond together on-screen for the first time in producer Sajid Nadiadwala's Mujhse Shaadi Karogi. It is the last day of the shoot for director Ravi Chopra's Baghbaan. And Ravi is tense. "Mr Bachchan is supposed to deliver a 12-page monologue," he says. "This is the film's finale."
Hema Malini, Amitabh Bachchan on the sets of BaghbaanThe Renaissance Resort in Powai, in north-central Mumbai, wears a hushed but festive look. Snazzily dressed couples occupy the sofas and divans in the lobby.
A party? "No," giggles actress Divya Dutta, "they're junior artistes. They'll occupy the conference room where Amitji will deliver his speech to us. We're all waiting to hear him. We'll forget we've to act and will all be speechless once he starts speaking."
Divya plays one of Amitabh's two daughters-in-law who scheme to separate him from the love of his life, Hema Malini.
The Baghbaan unit, meanwhile, awaits Hema's arrival.

The conference room gets fuller by the minute. Samir Soni, who plays Divya's husband, smiles shyly. He's the philosopher on the sets, launching into lectures on life at the drop of a hat. Among the guests who will form part of the day's shot are Avtar Gill, Anang Desai and Asrani, who is almost unrecognisable as a Sardarji.
Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini on the sets of BaghbaanIn a corner, Salman Khan, who plays Amitabh's good son, memorises his lines. "I play the best son in the world to the best actor in the world," he grins.
The radiantly beautiful Hema Malini soon walks in, making all heads turn. She converses with Suman Ranganathan while Ravi, who is veteran filmmaker B R Chopra's son, readies for the arrival of the Big B. Many years ago, he had directed Amitabh in Zameer (1974; the cast included Vinod Khanna and Saira Banu). Now Baghbaan appears like a silver lining on the doddering Chopra banner.

Post-lunch, Amitabh walks in with leonine strides. Everyone wants his attention. Though he is terribly tense -- "It's a very long speech and a culmination point in the script," he explains -- he has a hug and warm words for every cast member. They all come forward to greet him. Only Aman Verma (Pran Jaaye Par Shaan Na Jaye) waits for Amitabh to notice him. Salman ribs Aman about his 'starry' attitude.Ravi Chopra with Amitabh Bachchab on the sets of BaghbaanSoon, the eagerly awaited shot begins.
Before going on stage, Amitabh smiles triumphantly at Divya, as though to say it's time for her character's comeuppance.
"He's hypnotic," she sighs. "There won't be a single dry eye in the audience. They'll love Mr Bachchan when he has his say about how mean we've been."
As the Big B delivers a moving lyrical speech about family ties and lost values, eyes turn moist in the audience. And no one needs to use glycerine.

Bhansali opts for A R Rahman
Vickey Lalwani Rediff Com May 13, 2003

After Ismail Darbar composed the highly popular music of Devdas, one expected director Sanjay Leela Bhansali to repeat him in his next venture, Bajirao Mastani. But that is not to be. Bhansali has signed ace music director A R Rahman instead.
Bajirao Mastani stars Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor in the title roles.
The film's second leading lady, however, is yet to be decided. Earlier rumours had hinted that Katrina Kaif, who is apparently seeing Salman, was to do the role. Now, however, the grapevine is buzzing about how Esha Deol has been approached to play Salman's wife in the film.

Lfofficiel, the magazine that spells luxury, turned one on Thursday and their birthday was celebrated with extravagance.
Editor in chief Superna Motwane, dressed in a heavily embroidered sari, her husband Gaurav and publisher Arjun Mehra hosted a party at the newly opened InterContinental Hotel.

Since LfOfficiel is all about fashion and luxury, everyone turned up dressed for the occasion. Making a somewhat early entrance was cover girl Sheetal Malhar, wearing a stunning multi-coloured John Galliano dress that she also models on the cover of the anniversary issue of LfOfficiel. (Sheetal has never looked so good).
The cover picture was shot by Nisha Kutty who left India a couple of years ago to live in New York, but she was at the party too and able to enjoy the compliments that flowed for her work.

TIMELESS LOVE
Screen India April 18, 2003
Another filmmaker who is convinced that period films are the wave of the future is Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
After the grandiose Devdas, Bhansali has embarked upon another magnum opus, Bajirao-Mastani and is all set to bring two other legendary lovers, Maratha sardar Bajirao and the courtesan, Mastani, to life.
Salman Khan has been cast to play the legendary warrior. Bhansali recently had a special photo-session with Salman and seeing him in period regalia, Bhansali couldn't hide his happiness because his hunch, once again, had proved right.

David to direct Salman ? Govinda?
India FM April 10 2003
After producing a string of successful films, Sajid Nadiadwala decided to stay out of the limelight. Well, he's back to his first love ? film production ? after a sabbatical. If grapevine is to be believed, the producer of JUDWAA and HAR DIL JO PYAR KAREGA is planning a casting coup of sorts for his next film.
For his new venture, not titled yet, Sajid is planning to cast Salman Khan and Govinda for the first time together. And who else but David Dhawan would direct the film. gI've worked with David, Salman and Govinda in the past,h Sajid avers, gSo bringing them together in a project won't be a problem.h
He continues, gBut let me clarify, I haven't spoken to Salman about it [the actor was in London at the time of writing this piece!], nor have I met Govinda to discuss the project. I just bounced this idea off to David, but see how fast word spreads in the industry. We just had a meeting yesterday and you're already asking about it.h
After a pause, Sajid continues, gBut if at all the project materialises, it would be a treat to watch two of the finest talents in one frame. David shares a fantastic rapport with both the actors and since Salman and Govinda haven't worked together, the project would be something to look forward to.h I agree!

Court allows Salman Khan to go abroad
Times of India Feb 19, 2003

JODHPUR: Film actor Salman Khan, facing trial in poaching cases, has been allowed by two local courts to go abroad later this month.
Chief Judicial Magistrate Mohammad Salim Malik and Judicia Magistrate Bulaki Das Vyas accepted the applications submitted by Khan's counsel yesterday and allowed him to leave the country to visit Abu Dhabi by releasing his passport.

Seeking courts' permision, Khan's counsel Hastimal Saraswat pleaded that the actor wanted to go to Abu Dhabi from February 21 to 24 for delivering a lecture on 'Education Without Border' in a conference to be attended by 500 students from 17 countries, besides senior busines executives and academicians from around the world.

Khan would be sharing with the audience his experiences in the Mumbai film industry and his challenging journey to stardom, his counsel told the courts.
Earlier also the courts had allowed him to go abroad.
The actor, who is facing trial in the cases of hunting of black bucks and chinkaras in the forests near Jodhpur and also a case under the Arms Act, would submit his passport back to the court on his return.
Khan is the main accused in the poaching cases registered in 1998 when he was shooting for the Sooraj Barjatya's film 'Hum Saath Saath Hain' here.

Adnan to compose for Salman's movie
Rediff Com Feb 11 2003

Adnan Sami is all set to compose the music for Salman Khan's next home production tentatively titled Lucky.
Produced by Salman's company G S Entertainment, Lucky will be directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru of Universal Music, the combination that produced several of singer Falguni Pathak's hit music videos. Now, the two are on the lookout for a new 18-year-old girl to star opposite Salman in the film.
"It has never been done -- this nationwide hunt. We have been in touch with agencies across India and the talent hunt is still on," confirms Bunty Walia, Salman's partner and producer friend. "We will start shooting for the film soon. Salman will shoot for it for 45 days in a start to finish schedule."
"Adnan, of course, is the icing on the cake," smiles Walia.

Apparently, Adnan has already started working on the songs and has promised to come up with a stellar score. Salman Khan may not be popular with the media but the actor sure tops popularity charts when it comes to the industry.
Adnan, it seems, adores Salman and instantly agreed to compose for his home production. "Salman and Adnan get along like a house on fire," says a friend of Khan's. Incidentally, Adnan is a permanent fixture at all the parties held at Khan's Bandra residence.
At the last get-together, Sami entertained all the guests with his popular Lift kara de, while Khan did an impromptu jig.

Salman to play Lord Ram!
Filmfare Feb 9 2003

Salmanfs just turned over a new leaf. And itfs high time after all the bad publicity hefs been getting. In fact, hefs not only mended his ways, hefs also going to be the epitome of goodness. However, this time itfs only on screen. Rumour has it that the Khansf home production company G S Entertainment is going to produce a film on the Ramayan, with Salman playing Lord Ram and his brother Sohail Khan portraying Lakshman. The grapevine insists that G S Entertainment will rope in a Hollywood company as co-partner in the deal and even cast Hollywood actors in other roles in the film.

There is no doubt that this film could change Salmanfs entire image considering that films on such topics are a craze in India, not only for the rich Indian heritage that such films capture but also because of religious reasons. With Salman already having signed the Hollywood production eMarigoldf, looks like the Khan is going to give serious competition to the likes of Tom Cruise and Keanu Reaves!

And now that Raveena has turned producer, Salman Khan has consented to be a part of her first film, STUMPED. Salman will be seen in a song from the film ? its picturisation will be held on January 25. gSalman has been gracious enough to accept the offer,h Raveena reveals, gIt's just a special appearance. Salman's presence in the song will give the film a further impetus.h
That makes Salman's two special appearances in two consecutive weeks ? LOVE AT TIMES SQUARE [release date: February 14] and STUMPED [release date: February 21].

Radhika and Vinay were associated with Universal Music Company at a point of time. Radhika has to her credit several music videos that were appreciated immensely. But not many are aware that she was all set to direct Zayed Khan's launch pad for Universal, much before CHURA LIYAA HAI TUMNE went on the floors. But that film never took off.
Coming back to the Salman project, the film is titled LUCKY and it will co-star a new heroine. gWe're on the lookout for a leading lady, someone who's 18-19 years old,h producer Bunty Walia tells me. The film will mount the sets in June in Russia with a start-to-finish 2-month shooting schedule.
Meanwhile, the producers are contemplating signing Adnan Sami to compose the music of the film.

Salman is Big B's adopted son
IndiaFM@Jan 10 2003
This writer was the first to break the news about Salman Khan and Mahima Chaudhary bagging B.R. Chopra's BAGHBAAN, directed by Ravi Chopra. Of late, we've received mails from the fans of Big B and Salman, who've been curious to know about their roles in the film.
Well, Salman plays Amitabh's adopted son in the film, while Mahima plays his girlfriend, who eventually marries Salman.

Mahima opposite Salman in 'Baghbaan'
IndiaFM@Jan 7 2003
Mahima Chaudhary is the latest addition to the cast of B.R. Chopra's BAGHBAAN. Just last week, we'd informed you that Salman Khan had been signed to play the lead man in the film. And now, this week, Mahima has been signed opposite Salman for the film. Reportedly, Mahima was more than eager to do the project when the Chopras approached her for the film. "She was co-operation personified," director Ravi Chopra reveals, "She said it was an honour to work for B.R. Films and gave her 'yes' to the project instantly."
Shedding light on her role, Chopra says, "Salman and Mahima's role in the film are next to Amitabh's role in the film, in terms of significance. Although, I must clarify, it's a special appearance." It's for the first time that Salman and Mahima have been teamed for a project.

Salman in Big B starrer
IndiaFM@Jan 1 2003
Salman Khan has bagged yet another prestigious project ? B.R. Chopra's BAGHBAAN, being directed by Ravi Chopra. It was heard that the role was initially offered to Shah Rukh Khan, then Akshay Kumar and later Akshaye Khanna, but due to some reason or the other, things didn't work out.
However, Ravi Chopra denies that he offered the role to three different actors before settling for Salman. gWe'd only approached Shah Rukh, who expressed his inability to do the film since he's too committed with his home-productions,h Ravi states, gThat's when we approached Salman, who agreed instantaneously.h
He also clarifies that the role is not a mere special appearance, as is being believed. gIt's a significant, full-fledged role,h he discloses.
