Salman Khan talks about his brother Sohail Khan

2002 June 18 India FM By Taran Adarsh
He's shooting round-the-clock for the Hindi version of the Tamil hit SETHU (being directed by Satish Kaushik), but the brat Khan seems more excited about his brother, Sohail Khan's MAINE DIL TUJHKO DIYA, more than any of his films.
For someone who has shunned the national press like plague, since the very outset of his career, Salman seems more than willing to talk about Sohail's debut film as an actor. gIt's an amazing film,h Salman tells me, continuing, gHere's an actor to watch.h
Salman, who's always been over-protective about his family, can't stop singing praises of Sohail. gMark my words, Sohail will give a run to everyone once his film releases. Besides being an amazing actor, he's danced well and his action sequences are something to watch out for,h his face lights up as he states this.
But the mischievous side of Salman bounces soon after. gThe swine, he completed PYAAR KIYA TO DARNA KYA and HELLO BROTHER in 35 to 40 days flat. But for his own film, he's taken 135 days to wrap up the shooting alone. The bank balances have also exhausted,h he smiles. He chuckles, gI hope we get back what we've invested.h
Going back, Salman was always prodding his youngest brother to take to acting, gbut he would brush my suggestions all the while. He took up direction instead,h Salman reminisces, continuing in the same breath, gBut the day he decided to face the camera, the entire family was behind him. We supported him whole-heartedly.h
Incidentally, Sohail had first offered the lead role in MAINE DIL TUJHKO DIYA to Salman and although Salman found the script captivating, he told Sohail to make his debut with this film. And it was only recently that Salman saw the rush-print of Sohail's latest endeavour and was more than impressed with the outcome. gIt's an amazing film, a perfect launch,h he discloses.
But he has a suggestion to make. gMy only request to the media is not to hype him so much that after a flop or two, you feel authoritative enough to pull him down. Give him enough publicity for him to survive. No over-hype please,h he observes.
Getting emotional, Salman continues, gI wish to thank my elder brother Sanju (Sanjay Dutt) for agreeing to be a part of the project. It's his love and affection for Sohail and me that prompted him to sign the film. (after a pause, a visibly charged now!) Sanju, I wish to thank you for this gesture. We love you.h
He continues, gI've made several wrong moves in my life. But luck favoured me all the while. I wish Sohail makes all the right moves and emerges victorious.h
